Inner Mongolia report

About since two years ago, some minerals that from north of China begin to appear in mineral market, in these minerals, the typical piece is Ilvaite, green quartz, arsenopyrite, hedenbergite, pink calcite, green global fluorite, red fluorite, green andradite etc. Some minerals crystal form and combination like another famous locality: Dal'negorsk, Russia. About the locality there are many story in these minerals. Go with the time advance, the real locality show itself bit by bit, these minerals are all from Inner Mongolia.

From this spring, I went to Inner Mongolia five times for travel and purchase minerals, in the following article we will see a presentation of several locality that produce mineral specimens and some typical mineral specimen, hope it can help more mineral fans to know the minerals that from Inner Mongolia.

Huanggang Mine:


Huanggang Mine is located in Muxigaxiang, north of Hexigten Banner, Chifeng Prefecture, Inner Mongolia, below of the Huanggang summit and Huanggang summit is the highest mountaintop of Daxinganling Mountain. Huanggang Mine is in the center of Huanggangliang forest country Park.

Traffic conditions:

Huanggang Mine from Beijing about 800 kilometers, to reach by drive about 10 hours, some routes can arrive, for now, the best route is: Beijing - Chengde - Lingyuan - Chifeng - Hexigten Banner - Huanggang Mine , asphalt road can up to the mine, traffic is very convenient.

Geological Situation:

The host rock and mineralization ages of Huanggang deposit were consistently, both occurred in early Cretaceous, suggesting that their have a close genetic relationship. Ore-forming ages data statistical analysis show that the mineralization of the Daxingganling Mts. area were mainly in Mesozoic Yanshanian, there are two ore-forming eruptive periods, i.e., e.140~130 Ma and 180~160Ma, while the tin-lead-zinc-copper-silver polymetallic deposits related with the small intrusion in Yanshanian under lithospheric extensional and thinning environment mainly occurred in e.140~130 Ma; the molybdenum-lead-zinc-copper-aurum polymetallic deposits related with the post-collision orogeny of Siberia plate and North China Plate in early Yanshanian mainly occurred in e.180~160Ma. Huanggang tin-iron deposit is the product of large-scale mineralization under the paleo-pacific plate subduction environment. (From Zhou zhenhua, 2011. General interest:

The huanggang Sn-Fe deposit in Inner Mongolia is one of the important large polymetallic deposits in the polymetallic belt of south Daxinganling, the largest tin-based multi-metal deposit in the north of the Yangtze River, and also it is the second largest iron deposit in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Huanggang Mine was mined in 2007, joint investment by Baogang Group and Hexigten Banner government together, capacity of mining is 15,000 tons per day. before 2010, only a few Quartz crystals and minerals were taken from underground to the miner's room, and occasionally a few Quartz material dealer went to the miner's room to buy them. Until 2010, some black ilvaite was find and many mineral dealer began into the mine, afterward more and more minerals were find.

In 22 square kilometers of Huanggang Mine Area, with 185 different size mineral lodes. Affected by the geological structure, the various type of metal and nonmetal lode behave very comprehensive and prominent, iron, copper, silver, gold, tin , lead, zinc, Fang, molybdenum and other non-ferrous metal ore belt is widely distributed, the mined mineral specimens are very rich, and the combinations of the minerals are multiplex. Huanggang Mine is divided seven Areas from west to east, the main mineral specimens from a No.1 Area, No.2 Area and No.5 Area.

With more fine mineral specimens output, like Yaogangxian Mine, the Huanggang Mine will become another well-known location in the mineral collection world.

The minerals have been found in Huanggang mine area more than 60 species, the major mineral specimen is: Ilvaite, Calcite, Andradite, Hedenbergite, Arsenopyrite, Fluorite, Quartz, Beryl, Helvite, Goethite, Apophyllite, Laumontite, Loellingite, Datolite, Borcarite...etc.
